Unisys (UIS) said late Thursday its board appointed President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Thomson to succeed Peter Altabef as chief executive officer, effective April 1.

Thomson will remain president after the appointment and will join the board of directors, Unisys said.

Altabef will continue as chair of the board, the company said.
