Krispy Kreme said it detected a security breach on a portion of its information-technology systems in November that has and is expected to continue having a material impact on its operations until a recovery is completed.

The doughnut chain said it was notified of the breach on Nov. 29, according to a securities filing. While its shops are open and customers are able to order without issue in-person, the company is experiencing disruptions, including to online ordering, in parts of the U.S., it added.

An investigation is under way and the impact of the incident isn't yet known, the Charlotte, N.C., company said.

Krispy Kreme said the expected costs related to the incident, including revenue loss from digital sales and costs to restore systems will likely have a material impact on its results, operations and financial condition. It doesn't expect this will have a long-term material impact.
