Cohu said it plans to acquire artificial intelligence software company Tignis, expanding its artificial intelligence and automation offerings.

The acquisition is expected to close in January, Cohu said Monday. The company isn't disclosing the terms of the transaction, which Cohu said it will fund with cash on hand.

Tignis is based in Seattle and was founded in 2017. Cohu, which supplies equipment and services for semiconductor manufacturing, said Tignis' products will provide automation for semiconductor manufacturing.

Tignis' PAICe Monitor provides customers with machine learning to analyze and predict. Its PAICe Maker is designed to use AI and automation to reduce maintenance costs.
