IRC's (HKG:1029) iron ore production rose 5.1% to 608,956 tonnes in the third quarter from 579,290 tonnes in the year-ago period, while sales increased 5.3% to 596,618 tonnes from 566,635 tonnes a year earlier, according to a Thursday filing with the Hong Kong stock exchange.
Production increased after the company's K&S mine started mining and processing Sutara ore in July. During the quarter, the Sutara mine yielded 1.7 million tonnes of iron ore. the filing said.
Iron prices per tonne slipped 8.8% to $114 from $125 in the year-ago quarter.
