It's been a rocky week in the stock market. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has been buying.

The Omaha, Neb., company boosted its positions in Occidental Petroleum, VeriSign and SiriusXM with stock purchases this Tuesday through Thursday, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Berkshire bought a bit more than $400 million of Occidental shares over the period, bringing its stake in the oil-and-gas producer to more than 28%, according to Dow Jones Market Data. Buffett's company had last reported buying Occidental shares in June.

Berkshire owns more than 13% of VeriSign and more than 34% of SiriusXM, according to the new filings.

All three stocks jumped in morning trading. Still, each is in negative territory for 2024, lagging far behind the S&P 500's 25% rally.
