TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI noted that the peak of the homecoming flow before Christmas occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. According to KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Ixfan Hendriwintoko, the occupancy rate of trains departing from Gambir and Pasar Senen Stations on that day reached 95 percent, with a total of 44,249 passengers.

On Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, 40,854 passengers were recorded as leaving Jakarta by train. Of that number, 14,824 passengers departed from Gambir Station with an occupancy rate of 73 percent of the available seat capacity. Meanwhile, Pasar Senen Station served the departure of 26,030 passengers with an occupancy rate reaching 99 percent.

"The number of passengers can still change because ticket sales are still ongoing until the train departs," said Ixfan in a written statement, Wednesday, December 24, 2024.

He added that the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holiday period will still last until January 5, 2025. Tickets for departures from Gambir and Pasar Senen Stations during this period are still available, so prospective passengers are advised to buy tickets immediately so they don't run out.

For information, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has provided 821,972 seats during the Nataru period, consisting of 358,358 seats from Gambir Station and 463,614 seats from Pasar Senen Station. To date, 475,000 tickets have been sold, or around 58 percent of the available capacity.

In addition, KAI has prepared 1,552 long-distance train trips (KAJJ), or an average of 86 trips per day during Nataru. The total capacity of long-distance train seats, both regular and additional, reaches 45,665 seats per day.

"KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has maximized the KAJJ series departing from Pasar Senen Station and Gambir Station," explained Ixfan.

Ixfan also revealed that the favorite dates chosen by customers during the Nataru period were December 19-25, with an occupancy rate reaching 70 to 90 percent. The most popular destinations are Yogyakarta, Lempuyangan, Surabaya, Purwokerto, and Semarang.

"We urge all train customers to be careful with their belongings, making sure nothing is left behind at the station or on the train," he concluded.
