Karoon Energy (ASX:KAR) received notice that First Sentier Investors Holding and its affiliates, including Japanese firm Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, became its substantial holder on Dec. 27, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

The asset management group now holds 39 million shares or 5.1% voting power of the oil and gas explorer and producer, the filing said.
