European Airline Earnings Seen Taking off in 2025 -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
01-07

1423 GMT - European airlines ought to see earnings growth in 2025, with Bank of America analysts forecasting an average rise in EBIT of around 28% this year, they say in a research note. Growing corporate flying and resilient appetite for travel ought to be supportive of demand for both trans-Atlantic and intra-European flying, the analysts say. Though non-fuel costs are expected to rise this year due to anticipated higher airport fees, personnel, air traffic and emissions costs, airlines' unit costs are seen dropping in 2025 due to lower fuel costs, the analysts say. IAG is BofA's top pick among airlines, the analysts say, pointing to its strong brand portfolio, geographical positioning and history of cost control. (pierre.bertrand@wsj.com)
