PPL (PPL) is eliminating the role of chief operating officer role, effective April 4, with the retirement of COO Francis Sullivan.

David Bonenberger and Lonnie Bellar will assume Sullivan's responsibilities, the company said Tuesday in a statement. Bonenberger will become executive vice president and COO of utilities, and Bellar will become EVP of engineering, construction and generation.

Bonenberger and Bellar will report to Chief Executive Officer Vincent Sorgi.
