Informatica’s CDO Insights 2025 survey reveals that organizations plan to ramp up AI investments, despite near-term headwinds on AI readiness
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., January 28, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Informatica (NYSE: INFA), a leader in enterprise AI-powered cloud data management, today announced the findings of its global CDO Insights 2025 survey: Racing Ahead on GenAI and Data Investments While Navigating Potential Speed Bumps.
This global annual survey, focusing on the current landscape of Generative AI (GenAI) adoption, reveals that nearly all global data leaders surveyed show no signs of slowing down their GenAI initiatives, despite finding difficulty in demonstrating business value – including meeting unrealistic C-suite expectations and expecting quicker return on investment (ROI).
Nearly all data leaders responding to the global survey are accelerating ahead in 2025 to demonstrate ROI from their GenAI initiatives, and overcoming the obstacles of the new technology and data complexities in their AI-readiness journey.
Key findings:
"Our latest study reveals nearly all leaders are moving ahead with their GenAI investments but they are concerned with issues identified in pilot projects," said Brett Roscoe, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Governance and Cloud Operations at Informatica. "One particular concern is attaining the readiness of their data that is required to achieve the transformative impact of AI."
The study also highlights that operational efficiency, and customer and employee experience, remain top business priorities for a GenAI rollout, while data management investments in data privacy, security and literacy are expected to increase in tandem with GenAI investments. As nearly half of the data leaders surveyed are looking to increase investments in data management, they are also gearing up to enhance data governance with 47% emphasizing data privacy and improving their workforce’s data maturity to use data and AI technology effectively and responsibly.
Blake Andrews, Chief Data & Analytics Officer at Independent Financial, comments, "Financial services companies traditionally operate in a highly competitive and regulated industry with vast amounts of data from various sources across departments. With GenAI, organizations can potentially improve their competitiveness if they are able to execute a reliable technology infrastructure and confident data governance strategy from the start. This helps to meet the rising demands from customers for personalization and offer positive business outcomes with greater efficiency."
"The study findings reaffirm that creating a strong data foundation is key to embedding trust in any company’s GenAI efforts," Roscoe echoed. "Placing investments in areas such as employees’ skillsets and a modern data management strategy will help achieve the business value the C-suite is seeking from AI."
While data leaders remain optimistic and are moving at full speed to lead the pack in technological innovation which can lead to better business outcomes, they need to realign expectations set with their C-suite executives, overcome the key barriers, including data challenges facing their organization, before they can achieve valuable outcomes from their GenAI initiatives.
