Braskem (BAK) said in a filing Friday that it will increase its provision for backfilling Alagoas salt cavities with solid material by about 1.3 billion Brazilian real ($223 million).
The increase is due to the specialized technical consultancy commissioned to conduct studies on the project, the company said.
The additional provision includes an estimated $1.2 billion Brazilian real for filling pressurized cavities, a process that may begin in 2027 and take several years or decades to complete, the company said.
