Cummins Swings to 4Q Profit, Sees Modest Changes in '25 Rev

Cummins returned to the green in the fourth quarter and the heavy industrial company forecast 2025 revenue more or less steady with last year's level.

The maker of truck engines and other machinery swung to a fourth-quarter profit of $418 million, or $3.02 a share from a loss of $1.43 billion, or $10.01 a share, a year earlier.

The latest quarter included charges related to the overhaul of its Accelera electric-vehicle and fuel-cell unit of $2.14 a share. Analysts, on average had forecast adjusted earnings of $4.63 a share, according to FactSet

Fourth-quarter revenue fell 1.1% to $8.45 billion, topping the mean analyst target of $8.07 billion, as per FactSet.

For 2025, the Columbus, Ind.-based company forecast revenue falling by 2% at worst and rising by 3% at best. For 2024, Cummins posted revenue of $34.1 billion, flat with a year earlier.

Cummins expects 2025 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization in a range between 16.2% and 17.2% of sales.
