Hongkong Post to Continue Refusing US-Bound Parcels Despite USPS U-Turn on Ban

Hongkong Post, the city's postal service, will not accept parcels to be sent to the US until further notice, according to a Thursday news release.

The suspension comes even after the US Postal Service reversed the ban on mail from Hong Kong and mainland China.

Earlier, the USPS said it would temporarily halt inbound packages from China and Hong Kong unless cleared by US Customs and Border Protection. The policy shift came following the introduction of a 10% tariff on Chinese goods.

"Hongkong Post has been communicating with the postal administration of the United States, but there are still matters that need further clarification, including the request of the United States for the imposition of additional duty," a government spokesman said.
