China reported strong new energy vehicle sales and production in January, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

January NEV sales and production both rose more than 29% year over year to 944,000 units and 1.0 million units, respectively.

Total passenger car sales inched up 0.8% to 2.13 million units last month, while output climbed 3.3% to 2.15 million units.

China's auto exports rose 6.1% to 470,000 units.
