Perma-Fix Environmental Services (PESI) on Wednesday provided an update on the progress of its per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, treatment technology, Perma-FAS.
The company said that it started full-scale commercial treatment in Q4 with its 1,000-gallon PFAS Destruction Reactor located at a site in Florida. After several months of continuous operation treating PFAS-contaminated waste, the system has shown "exceptional" results, proving its effectiveness in destroying PFAS.
The company said it is advancing its second-generation treatment unit, which will have three times the capacity of the current system and will boost throughput and revenue potential while enhancing operational efficiency. The company said it expects the new treatment unit to be up and running later this year.
Shares of Perma-Fix Environmental Services were up over 6% in recent trading.
