The business confidence among Taiwanese manufacturers picked up in January, but weakened at service providers and construction firms, Taipei Times reported Tuesday, citing the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER).

Taiwan's manufacturing confidence index reached 98 points, up 0.82 points from the revised 97.18 in the preceding month. This marks its third consecutive monthly increase and the highest level in six months, according to the report.
