US benchmark equity indexes are on track to close lower Thursday as markets reacted to proposed tariffs on Mexico and Canada due to take effect next week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.4% to 43,270.2, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.4% to 18,615.7. The S&P 500 shed 1.4% to 5,874.9. Among sectors, technology posted the steepest decline while energy led the gainers.
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) was up over 6% after its Global Consumer Products division signed a multi-year global licensing agreement with Mattel (MAT) for DC stories and characters.
Teleflex (TFX) fell 22% after it agreed to acquire most of Biotronik's Vascular Intervention business for about 760 million euros ($793.1 million) in cash.
The 10-year US Treasury yield gained 0.02 basis points to 4.29%, while the two-year rate was little changed at 4.08%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 2.4% at $70.24 a barrel.
