The solution will harness the power of AI to deliver seamless bandwidth allocation and energy optimisation that will boost Singtel's customers’ connectivity experience.
Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) will start commercialising an AI-enabled Home WiFi Gateway in Singapore before expanding it across markets within the Singtel group.
This follows the recent successful completion of the solution's Proof of Concept (POC), which intelligently identifies and prioritises traffic based on the application type.
The POC, in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, involved testing several applications across a range of devices to determine the improved quality of experience delivered by the AI-powered Smart Traffic Classifier.
The classifier is designed to deliver up to a 50% average latency reduction for applications such as gaming, streaming, and voice and video calls in congested environments. It is part of the Qualcomm Networking AI Suite available on Qualcomm Dragonwing (TM) Networking Wi-Fi 7 platforms.
The roll-out of the AI-enabled Home WiFi Gateway will augment Singtel’s ongoing efforts to boost its national broadband network that supports the rising demands for new technologies.
“Through this collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, we’re setting new benchmarks in home connectivity by harnessing the power of AI to deliver seamless bandwidth allocation and energy optimisation that will boost our customers’ connectivity experience,” says Jorge Fernandes, Singtel’s group chief technology officer.
Last year, Singtel adopted the international Broadband Forum TR-369 standard for WiFi management, streamlining the oversight of multi-vendor home broadband equipment.
The move accelerates the rollout of new technologies like WiFi 7 and 10Gbps broadband while enhancing network-device interoperability, delivering an improved digital customer experience.
