President Donald Trump has signed an executive order starting a probe into how copper imports "threaten" the national security and economic stability, the White House said Tuesday.

The investigation will evaluate the national security risks stemming from the US' rising reliance on imported copper and the potential need for trade remedies to "safeguard" domestic industry, the White House said.
