Nestle's Quarterly Sales to be Driven by Price Increases, UBS Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
03-26

0949 GMT - Nestle's sales for the first quarter are expected to grow ahead of previous forecast and to be entirely driven by price increases, UBS analysts say. Organic sales from the maker of KitKat chocolate bars and Nescafe coffee are expected to grow 2.4% in the first quarter, compared with the previous estimates of 2.0% but below the market consensus of 2.7%, they say in a note. This is expected to be supported by a price increase of 1.7%, up from previous forecast of 1.2%, as Nestle passes on the cost increases of cocoa and coffee to consumers, they add. However, the reported sales forecast for the year as a whole has come down by around 2%, reflecting foreign exchange headwinds, dragging EPS expectations by 2% as well, they add. Shares are down 0.3%.(michael.susin@wsj.com)
