Carter's has turned to Douglas Palladini, the former global brand president of retailer Vans, to run the baby apparel company.

The Atlanta-based company appointed Palladini chief executive and president, effective April 3.

He takes the helm after Michael Casey early this year said he was stepping down as CEO and chairman after 15 years in the role and more than three decades at the company. At that time Richard Westenberger was named interim CEO, adding to his duties as senior executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer, while lead independent director William Montgoris was appointed non-executive chairman.

Palladini brings more than three decades of senior leadership experience with an emphasis on brand and direct-to-consumer strategies, Carter's said. He most recently served as founder and owner of Kickstand, a consulting firm specializing in brand strategy, executive coaching, and organizational design. He previously spent nearly 20 years at V.F. Corp., including as general manager of the Americas for Vans and later as global brand president of Vans.
