Rio Tinto Group (ASX:RIO) discovered one of the largest gem-quality yellow diamonds in Canada, weighing 158.2 carats, from its Diavik diamond mine in the Northwest Territories, the miner said in a statement Tuesday.

The mine's production mainly consists of white diamonds, with less than 1% yielding rare yellow diamonds, the statement said.

Shares fell 2% in morning trade Wednesday.
