Malaysia's Equity-Market Volatility May Persist in 2Q -- Market Talk

0738 GMT - Malaysia's equity market may remain volatile in 2Q due to tariff uncertainties and likely retaliatory actions, but most downside risks have been priced in after the KLCI's March dip, says TA Securities analyst Kaladher Govindan in a note. A recovery is expected in 2H, driven by potential U.S. tariff exemptions, the Fed's dovish stance and expected China stimulus, he reckons. Malaysia's commitment to reforms and its upcoming development blueprint due in July could further lift sentiment, he notes. TA Securities sees market weakness as a chance to accumulate undervalued blue chips, domestic plays and defensive stocks. It maintains its end-2025 KLCI target at 1785. The KLCI rises 0.6% to 1522.58. (yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
