Harley-Davidson's chief executive, Jochen Zeitz, plans to retire after five years at the helm of the motorcycle maker.

Harley-Davidson on Tuesday said it launched a CEO search process late last year after with the help of an executive search firm after Zeitz, who has led the Milwaukee, Wis., company since early 2020, expressed his interest in retiring in 2025.

Harley-Davidson said Zeitz will remain CEO until the company identifies a successor.

Zeitz stepped in as interim president and CEO of Harley-Davidson in February 2020 after Matt Levatich resigned and took the role on a permanent basis later that year.
