Crocs Could Double Some Prices as Tariffs Threaten Heydude Line -- Market Talk

12:00 ET - Crocs could double prices of some shoes due to tariffs, putting some of its product lines at risk, Williams Trading analyst Sam Poser says. Crocs sources about half of its goods from China and almost all its Heydude products. The Wally shoe, which is part of the Heydude line, costs about $15 to make and ship, and retails for $60, Poser says. With a 145% tariff on Chinese imports, that landed price would rise to around $30, bringing the retail price to $120 to maintain the same margin. "Consumer acceptance of a $120 Wally is unlikely to say the least," Poser says, adding the Heydude line is in turnaround mode after struggling to make sales. "CROX is faced with the pressing question of what to do with the HEYDUDE brand." (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
