A second Boeing 737 MAX 8, intended for a Chinese airline, returned to the US on Monday, amid steep US-China tariffs, Reuters reported on the same day.

The jet, tracked from Boeing's Zhoushan facility to Guam, followed the previous return of a 737 MAX 8 to Seattle on Sunday, according to the report.

Xiamen Airlines confirmed two planes were sent back to the US but declined to give a reason, Reuters wrote.

Boeing may seek alternative buyers, like Malaysia Airlines, as trade tensions disrupt deliveries, according to the report.
