Lyft (LYFT) will roll out standard taxis for select US riders starting in May as part of its feature expansion roadmap, the company told MT Newswires on Thursday.
The cab dispatch service will begin in St. Louis, Missouri on May 5 for riders who have opted for taxis instead of gig drivers in rideshare vehicles, according to the company.
Opted-in riders can book rides on the Lyft app and potentially be matched with a taxi for "standard, wait and save, or priority pickup rides," the company said.
"We're always exploring new ways to help riders get to the people and places they love. We're excited to launch taxis onto our platform in St. Louis, which marks our first taxi integration in the US," Lyft told MT Newswires in an email response.
