Intel (INTC) said Tuesday that multiple customers have expressed interest in building test chips using its upcoming Intel 14A process node, the successor to Intel 18A, at the Intel Foundry Direct Connect event.
The company said Intel 14A will feature PowerDirect direct contact power delivery, expanding on the PowerVia backside power delivery used in Intel 18A. Intel 18A is now in risk production and is expected to enter volume manufacturing in 2025.
Intel also introduced Intel 18A-P, a new variant designed to deliver enhanced performance. Early wafers based on the 18A-P are already in the fab, and because it is design rule-compatible with Intel 18A, intellectual property and electronic design automation partners have begun updating their offerings accordingly.
