Vuzix (VUZI) said Wednesday that it has received a six-figure dollar order for custom color waveguides from a European original equipment manufacturer.

The company said the waveguides will be integrated into a new generation of thermal smart glasses that is being developed with a European design and research and development advisory firm. Vuzix did not identify the customer, nor did it disclose the specific contract value.

Vuzix said the customer expects volume production of the smart glasses to start in fall this year.

Shares of Vuzix were up 9% in recent Wednesday trading.
