China Evergrande (HKG:3333) Chairman Hui Ka-yan is looking to refuse disclosure of his assets to the Hong Kong High Court, the South China Morning Post reported Tuesday, citing liquidators.
The refusal could lengthen and complicate efforts to wind up the embattled property developer's assets and repay creditors, the report said.
Hui informed the court of his intention on April 23, the report said, citing a lawyer during a hearing.
Liquidators sought the earliest possible date for the hearing, but the chairman's camp sought more time due to the complexity and sensitivity of the case, the SCMP said.
Hui's case will not be heard before June 30, the report said.
