Trek Metals (ASX:TKM) awarded a drilling contract for its Christmas Creek project in Western Australia to contractor Precision Exploration Drilling, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

Drilling preparations are underway, with a multi-purpose drill rig scheduled for site mobilization this month, the filing said.

The company also secured a Western Australia government co-funded grant worth up to AU$180,000 under the exploration incentive scheme for the program, per the filing.

Shares rose 2% in midday trade Friday.
