Woolworths' (ASX:WOW) group sales rose 3% to AU$17.31 billion in the fiscal third quarter from AU$16.77 billion in the year-ago period, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
The company's Australian food unit delivered sales of AU$13.05 billion, up 4% from a year ago. Sales from the retailer's B2B unit rose 6% to AU$1.44 billion. W Living sales fell 3% to AU$1.22 billion.
Woolworths reported improved customer and sales momentum in New Zealand during the quarter, while flagging continued challenges facing its BIG W subsidiary. The company expects BIG W to record a loss before interest and tax of AU$70 million for the fiscal second half.
