1237 ET - Lower and middle income customers are retreating the most from the travel industry. Hotels this week mirrored many of the trends flagged by airlines in April: international and luxury demand is still strong, but travel is slowing down in the U.S. among consumers on a budget. Wyndham, which is the most affordable of the three major hotel chains that have reported earnings so far, said it expects the revenue decline it started logging in March and April to continue for the rest of the year. Hyatt said its most affordable upscale segment shows the most declines. And the CEO of online travel agency Booking said Wednesday that hotels with fewer stars are struggling more than those that are more highly rated. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
