Mitsubishi Electric (TYO:6503) and Hitachi (TYO:6501) are developing automated failure detection services to address the increasing challenges of power infrastructure maintenance due to an aging workforce, according to Nikkei Asia report on May 6.
A recent example is Mitsubishi Electric's April launch of a remote inspection service for power receiving and distribution equipment in factories and commercial buildings, added the report.
This system employs sensors to detect anomalies, such as water intrusion, and alerts maintenance staff through their smartphones, facilitating more targeted inspections and reducing the need for frequent manual examinations.
