Nike Switches Up Leadership Team Amid Ongoing Turnaround

Nike's president of consumer, product and brand is retiring, and the sportswear company plans to break up her role into three separate positions.

Heidi O'Neill is stepping down from the role after 26 years with Nike, the company said Monday. She will serve in an advisory capacity until September.

With her retirement the role of consumer, product and brand leadership will be divided into consumer and sport, marketing and product creation.

At the same time, Nike disclosed several new leadership appointments as part of its continuing turnaround effort.

Amy Montagne, who previously served as vice president/general manager of global women's, has been promoted to president. She has worked at Nike for 20 years, having held a number of roles of increasing responsibility.

Phil McCartney, with 27 years at the company, has been promoted to chief innovation, design and product officer, a role in which he will oversee the creation of new products each season for brands including Nike, Jordan and Converse. He most recently served as vice president of footwear, and he will additionally serve as an executive vice president.

Nicole Graham will continue to serve as Nike's chief marketing officer, and has added the title executive vice president.

And Tom Clarke, who currently serves as a strategic advisor to the CEO, has assumed the new role of chief growth initiatives officer. He has worked at the company for 45 years, having previously held several leadership positions.
