Shares of NLight jumped after the company's first-quarter results and second-quarter outlook topped Wall Street's expectations.
The stock rose 34% to $11.50 on Friday. Shares have declined 14% over the past 12 months.
The semiconductor-laser company on Thursday posted a loss of $8.1 million, or 16 cents a share, compared with a loss of $13.8 million, or 29 cents a share, a year earlier.
The Camas, Wash., said its adjusted loss per share was 4 cents compared with estimates of a loss of 19 cents a share according to analysts polled by FactSet.
Revenue rose to $51.7 million compared with $44.5 million a year earlier. Analysts expected $47.3 million.
For the second quarter, the company guided for revenue of $53 million to $59 million, above analysts' expectations for $52.5 million.
