The Port of Long Beach could face a situation similar to one it encountered during the pandemic if trade deals don't happen, its leader says.

"It's a Covid-19 moment in regards to cargo movement," said Mario Cordero, CEO of the California port, in an interview on CNBC. Cordero was responding to a question about the worst case scenario in the coming months. "The concerns are real."

Cordero said there is "light at the end of the tunnel," but noted that it could take at least a month after major deals are struck for the regular flow of cargo to level off.
