Peak Minerals (ASX:PUA) said that assays received from its maiden drilling program at the Minta rutile project in Cameroon demonstrate "significant" heavy mineralization from the surface, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.

Intercepts encountered during the drilling include 4.7 meters at 2.9% grade of heavy minerals from the surface, as well as 4.3 meters at 2.4% grade of heavy minerals from the surface.

The firm said it received assays from 12 drill holes and assays for 304 holes, and all oversized mineralization is pending.

The maiden drill program at the project seeks to test an initial area of 3,500 square kilometers over broad drill spacings to identify higher-grade areas for follow-up drilling, per the filing.
