Cava Tests Generative AI To Optimize How Much Chicken To Cook -- Market Talk

1113 ET - Cava CEO Brett Schulman says the fast-casual Mediterranean chain is testing generative artificial intelligence that could better optimize its kitchen workflows. The AI uses camera vision over the serving line and cross-references historical sales data, weather data and event data, Schulman said on CNBC. That informs the grill-cook how much chicken to be cooking in increments, for instance, or how much the team should be prepping in the back room, he says. "Taking all that complexity off of their plate, allowing them to deliver that human connection and deliver great financials," Schulman says. Cava on Thursday reported higher 1Q profit, revenue and same restaurant sales. Shares fall 5.8%. (roshan.fernandez@wsj.com)
