Unitil Corporation $(UTL)$ announced on May 6, 2025, that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Aquarion Water Company of Massachusetts Inc., Aquarion Water Company of New Hampshire, Inc., and Abenaki Water Co., Inc. from the Aquarion Water Authority for $100 million. This transaction includes the assumption of approximately $30 million in debt and is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The acquisition will add approximately 330 miles of water distribution mains, serving around 12,000 customers in Massachusetts and 11,000 in New Hampshire. The deal is expected to close in late 2025, aligning with the sale of the ultimate parent company of the Aquarion Companies to the Aquarion Water Authority.
