Walmart CEO Says Even Lowered Tariffs Will Hike Prices -- Market Talk

0922 ET - Even though the global tariff war has cooled in the past week, the lowered new levies between the U.S. and its trading partners are still going to force Walmart to raise its prices, CEO Doug McMillon says on a call with analysts. A large volume of the company's electronics and toys come from China, Mexico, Vietnam, India and Canada, with higher tariffs on China having an outsized impact on Walmart's costs, the CEO says. The retailer won't let tariff-related cost pressure on general merchandise put pressure on food prices, but tariffs on countries including Costa Rica, Peru and Colombia are weighing on costs for imports including bananas, avocados, coffee and roses, McMillon says.
