Coinbase Global (COIN) said in a Thursday filing that it expects a recent cyber attack to cost it about $180 million to $400 million in remediation expenses and voluntary customer reimbursements.

The company said an "unknown threat actor" obtained certain information from a number of Coinbase customers, including names, addresses, emails, and account data, and demanded money in exchange for not releasing the information publicly.

Coinbase said it has not paid the threat actor and is cooperating with authorities investigating the matter. The company also said it is working on anti-fraud protections to mitigate risks from the incident and plans to "aggressively pursue all remedies."

Coinbase Global shares were down more than 2% in recent premarket activity Thursday.
