BYD’s latest low-cost EV, the e7, is now arriving at dealerships in China. The e7 is about the size of the Tesla Model 3 and is part of BYD’s more affordable e-series lineup.
We got our first look at the e7 last month after BYD released the first images of the new purely electric midsize sedan.
Although no details were revealed, BYD said it couldn’t wait to unlock “a new driving experience for everyone.” You can see design elements pulled from other new vehicles, like the Sealion 07, a midsize smart electric SUV.
However, a few features suggest this will be a lower-cost model. The e7 has traditional door handles, unlike most of BYD’s new vehicles, which now come with flush ones. It also includes split head and taillights rather than the popular full-length LED light bar.

According to CarNewsChina, BYD’s new e7 EV is now arriving at dealerships in China, revealing the interior for the first time.
Like most of its vehicles, a 15.6″ infotainment screen sits at the center of an otherwise minimalistic interior. Other features include a smaller driver display screen and a three-spoke steering wheel.
You can also see a new mobile phone compartment with USB ports and a plug-in socket. The interior and second row appear relatively simple. Other than that, there are minimal features and added design elements.
The e7 is part of BYD’s more affordable e-series lineup for younger buyers and taxi services. Currently, the only vehicle in the lineup is the e2, a smaller hatchback.
The lineup is now being absorbed into its popular Ocean series, which includes top-sellers like the Seagull, Dolphin, and Seal.
Data released in China revealed the e7 is 4,780 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall, or roughly the same size as the Tesla Model 3 at 4,720 mm long, 1,933 mm wide, and 1,441 mm tall.
BYD has yet to reveal official specs, including prices and final specs. CarNewsChina estimates it will cost around 100,000 yuan, or about $13,800. Others predict prices will start at under $10,000 or about 70,000 to 80,000 yuan. Check back soon as more info is expected to be released any day.
