BOE Could Cut Rates in June Due to Weakening Activity Data, Says Barclays -- Market Talk

0841 GMT - The Bank of England is likely to cut interest rates in June as U.K. activity data has been weakening gradually, Barclays U.K. rates strategist Moyeen Islam says in a podcast. U.K. activity data "has been regularly undershooting where the BOE expects it," raising the possibility of a June interest-rate cut, Islam says. Last week's U.K. wage growth data decelerated to 5.6% in the three months to March, from 5.9% in the three months to February. Focus is now on U.K. inflation data due on Wednesday. Money markets currently price in only a 15% probability of a BOE interest-rate cut in June, LSEG data show. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
