Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. has released its traffic figures for April 2025, highlighting a significant increase in passenger numbers and network expansion. The airline reported a 36.3% rise in passenger numbers compared to April 2024, with Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs) up by 27.1%. Over the first four months of 2025, there was a 26.6% increase in passengers carried compared to the same period in 2024. Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau attributed the growth to strong leisure travel demand, driven by holidays in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and across Asia. Additionally, the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, festive activities in Indonesia, and Easter holidays contributed to the surge in travel demand. On the cargo side, recent announcements regarding tariffs between China and the United States have provided near-term market reassurance, with Cathay Pacific poised to adjust freighter capacity as needed based on market conditions.
