RTX (RTX) said Monday its Raytheon unit delivered an AN/TPY-2 missile defense radar to the US Missile Defense Agency, marking its 13th delivery, but the first equipped with a fully Gallium Nitride-based array.
The company said the upgraded radar includes GaN technology to improve range and tracking capabilities and supports detection of hypersonic threats.
The AN/TPY-2 operates in the X-band frequency and is used to track ballistic missiles in various flight stages, RTX said.
