1845 ET - Through partnerships with Warby Parker and Kering, Google is re-entering an increasingly crowded smart glasses market, joining the likes of Meta (and its partner, EssilorLuxottica's Ray-Ban), Snap and Amazon.com, among smaller companies like Innovative Eyewear and Vuzix. Google had originally been among the first in the space with Google Glass, though it discontinued the device after lackluster sales and privacy concerns. Now, though, it seems such devices are gaining increased acceptance among consumers, with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg touting a recent surge in demand for its version as it adds more AI features. Google may have taken note, with both its partners sharing plans for AI-powered tools in their models. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
