SBF was later transferred to FCI-Terminal Island in San Pedro, California, a prison that houses 850 low-security male inmates. The Federal Bureau of Prisons estimates that SBF will be released on December 14, 2044, serving less than 21 years.

While the Federal Bureau of Prisons does not comment on the incarceration conditions of specific inmates, a spokesperson stated that the calculation of the release date takes into account the expected "good conduct time." Eligible inmates can earn 54 days of credit for each year served. In prison, inmates can also reduce their sentences by participating in certain programs.
