Led by the transport engineering sector, Singapore's manufacturing output in April rose 5.9% on year, the city-state's Economic Development Board (EDB) reported on Monday.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, Singapore's factory output increased 5.3% in April from March, according to the EDB.

Excluding the city's volatile biomedical sector, Taiwan's manufacturing output in April rose 8.1% on year, and a seasonally adjusted 4.7% from March.

Output in Singapore's transport engineering segment increased 22.9% on-year in April, bolstered by the

aerospace segment that expanded 39.5%, on enlarged maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) jobs from commercial airlines, reported the EDB.

Singapore's electronics segment posted output up 15.2% on year in April, added the agency.

In contrast, Singapore's biomedical goods output fell 1.1% in April on year, while chemical production fell by 3.1%.

Singapore's manufacturing outlook is somewhat muddied by recent US Trump Administration tariff policies.

Washington imposed a 10% tariff on most Singapore goods entering the US from April 5, which remains in force notwithstanding a 90-day pause on possible, additional "reciprocal" tariffs.
