Zijin Mining Group (HKG:2899) announced a temporary halt to part of its underground operations at the Kamoa-Kakula copper mine in Congo following recent seismic activity, according to a Friday Hong Kong Exchange filing.

The incident caused roof and wall damage but no injuries. The miner evacuated all workers safely and is investigating the cause with internal and external experts.

Phase 1 and 2 concentrators are running at reduced capacity using surface stockpiles, while Phase 3 and Kamoa underground mining continue unaffected.

The seismic activity may impact 2025 copper output, with updates to follow.

Zijin holds a 44.45% stake in the mine, which contributed 1.72 billion yuan to its 2024 net profit.

The stock slid 1% in recent trade on Monday.
